Is it true that you need to eat carbohydrates to be healthy?
TRANSCRIPT:
Mainstream health experts like to claim that you need to consume an obligate amount of carbs like whole grains and cereals in your diet for energy, fiber, lowering disease risk, vitamins and minerals, and satiety.
But in human physiology, the mandatory requirement for carbohydrate intake in the body is exactly zero. That’s right, ZERO! Any glucose-dependent functions in the brain, heart, and muscles can very easily be fulfilled through the conversion in the liver of some of the protein and fat you eat through a process known as gluconeogenesis.
This doesn’t mean you need to eat zero-carb. But you don’t have to eat any carbs to be healthy.
